Global Foods Market in Kirkwood has been a food-lover's paradise since 1999. When owner Suchin Prapaisilp moved to St. Louis from Thailand in 1970, he quickly realized there was very little here in the way of foods and spices from his home continent. He stocked his first store on South Grand Avenue with international foods procured on weekend trips to Chicago. The store was such a success with immigrant St. Louisans from all over the world that he finally opened a much larger store in Kirkwood. Dry goods are organized by country in the store's central aisles, while fresh produce, dairy, meats, dried fruits and beer and wine are located along the perimeter. If you are stumped by just what to do with some of the exotic ingredients you find, the store's website features a slew of recipes for international dishes.
