Yes, Kreis' Restaurant is known for its prime rib, but people keep coming back for something greener. The house salad is sort of like a super Caesar: The creamy anchovy Mayfair dressing is homemade, and it tops a simple bed of mixed greens, crisp iceberg lettuce, a wedge of tomato and a few bright rings of red onion. The 1,000 Island dressing is made in-house as well if you prefer something sweeter. And $6 is a small price to pay for service from a well-dressed staff of attentive waiters and an excellently appointed dining room. We can't promise that you won't also be lured into a $70 prime rib, but the luscious bowl of greens sitting next to it will keep you from feeling completely guilty afterward.
