Birds of a Feather

Everything is just rosy for longtime couple Georges and Albin. Georges owns and operates Saint-Tropez's hottest drag club, La Cage aux Folles, and Albin is Zaza, La Cage's star diva. But then Jean-Michel, Georges' son from an early dalliance with a woman, comes home to announce he's getting married. The problem is that his future father-in-law is the head of France's "family values" political party, and he's got a bee in his bonnet about shutting down all the drag clubs. Jean-Michel, who seems to be quite a diva himself about his impending nuptials, demands that Georges hide Albin and any trace of his homosexuality when the in-laws-to-be come over for dinner. Can Albin endure the insult, or will he do something justifiably flashy? Find out when 2010 Tony award-winner La Cage Aux Folles comes to town, with George Hamilton playing the role of Georges. The show opens at 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, at the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1111 or www.fabulousfox.com), and continues daily (except Monday) through Sunday, January 15. Tickets are $15 to $70.
