Just as it takes two to tango, you need two blades to have A Clash of Swords. The new twofer of one-act plays presented by the Tin Ceiling, A Clash of Swords brings adventure and chivalry to the stage with a touch of modern sensibility. Christopher Cyrs Dragons Lair is about Aloicious of the Flat Lands, clerk to Sir Gawain, who's very enthusiastic in his duties. Hed like to be more than a clerk but, you know, isnt quite sure how to improve his lot. Through the unwitting help of Gawain and his crony Sir Lancelot, Aloicious overcomes his meekness. Blackbird White by Damien S. K. Samways tells the strange tale of the buccaneer crew of The Irascible Magpie. Led by Mr. Fairweather, a former member of the British Navy, the crew is uncertain how to proceed now that Mr. Fairweather is in the grips of a full-blown midlife crisis. Pirating aint easy on a man, after all. Tin Ceiling presents A Clash of Swords at 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday (July 6 through 22) at the Tin Ceiling (3159 Cherokee Street; www.tinceiling.org).
