Come Outside

Schlafly's Art Outside is not your typical art fair. Not only do the vendors actually live in St. Louis, but the work is good. As in, so good that you will sit around with your delicious locally-brewed Schlafly beer (and possibly sauerkraut-smothered bratwurst) agonizing over whether to choose a lovely handmade Kung Fu Chicken ceramic bowl, or a very cool and intriguing light sculpture from Bob Hartzell. And with more than 50 artists participating, you're bound to find something you love. There's also entertainment, as well, with local bands (Bunnygrunt, Magic City and Theodore all make appearances) and fun for the little ones, too, such as Paul Vandivort's Puppet Theatre. Art Outside takes place from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday (September 9 through 11) at Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Avenue, Maplewood; 314-241-2337 or www.schlafly.com). Admission is free.
