Conversations About Conservation

Pet a hognose snake, count the seconds it takes a box turtle to poke its head out, get your picture taken with an albino Burmese python — you can't do any of this while watching Cartoon Network. So grab the kids and head to the St. Louis Herpetological Society's third annual Conservation for Critters, happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kirkwood Community Center (111 South Geyer Road, Kirkwood). Admission is $1 to $3 and gets you live-animal interactions, talks from animal experts and activities for the kids, including a wildlife scavenger hunt, all courtesy of the SLHS folks and other community groups (the St. Louis Audubon Society and the Wild Canid Survival and Research Center, to name just a couple particiating organizations). For more information about the critter fun, call 636-461-2818 or visit www.stlherpsociety.org.
