Crank That

St. Louis Bicycle Works gives a new meaning to "putting the pedal to the metal" with its yearly Cranksgiving bike ride/food drive. During this two-wheel trek, bikers pedal five, ten, twenty-five or fifty miles round trip to various area grocery stores to purchase nonperishable foodstuffs, including canned goods -- that would be the metal referenced previously -- for those less fortunate. The ride starts at 10 a.m. (registration begins at 9 a.m.) at the Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Avenue, Maplewood) and there's no registration fee, but ride organizers recommend that you purchase $10 to $20 of eats for Food Outreach's increasingly utilized food pantry.
