Somewhere along the way, Halloween lost its magic, at least in the eyes of Ms. Day. She used to adore donning a costume and trick-or-treating during her school days — and dressing up and hitting the bars in her more mature years. But in this, the prime of her, um, mid-twenties (or something like that), she has found that Halloween has become a meh
holiday, much like Valentine's Day and Columbus Day. That is, Halloween seemed lame until last year when she attended the annual Keith Jozsef Halloween Magic Spectacular
. This guy knows how to put the magic back in the hair-raising holiday season — literally. Jozsef works mesmerizing sleight-of-hand and eye-defying illusion acts into an evening of entertainment and showmanship. This year's spectacular takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the Center of Creative Arts (524 Trinity Avenue, University City), and members of the public aren't the only folks invited: Jozsef will try to conjure the spirit world, too. Oh, spooky! Tickets to this festive, fun night out cost $20 to $25 (at www.brownpapertickets.com
), which certainly is a small price to pay to have your mind blown and to have your Halloween spirits lifted.
