Dresden Dolls

Thursday, May 5; the Pageant (6161 Delmar Boulevard)

A little more than a year ago, the Dresden Dolls got their first ink in this paper for a show at the venerable-but-tiny Frederick's Music Lounge. Six months later they were at the mid-size Mississippi Nights. Now, they're taking a break from opening for Nine Inch Nails to play at the big ol' Pageant. Clearly, the Dolls are doing something right. Actually, they're doing almost everything right, bringing cabaret theatrics back to piano rock and mixing crowd-pleasing angst with real songwriting (sort of like NIN does on good days). If they keep up their trend, the Dresden Dolls' next St. Louis show will be at the Fox or the Savvis Center, so you'd better catch 'em while you can still get a good look at their amazing stage show.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15; call 314-726-6161 for more information.
