One of St. Louis' well-respected art institutions, the Sheldon Art Galleries strive to keep their walls rich with works that inspire thought and encourage conversation. It only stands to reason then that a benefit for the galleries would get folks thinking and talking, too. From 7 to 10 p.m. at the Factory (1128 Washington Avenue), the Sheldon hosts Video Night at the Factory, an evening of video art and fundraising. Van McElwee, a professor at Webster University who has exhibited worldwide and has too many additional accolades to list here, presents three video works at the event, including two that haven't been seen by anyone yet. Plus, Zlatko Cosic presents a video-music installation, with John Consiglio and Christopher Ottinger providing the sound interpretation of what Cosic shows onscreen. Tickets to attend the artsy evening cost $25 to $40 (available through MetroTix at 314-534-1111 or www.metrotix.com) and include eats and drinks in addition to the video presentations.
