As any seasoned gearhound can tell you, searching for that elusive piece of musical equipment can be a lonely task — scouring want ads and trolling Craigslist postings starts to feel a little sinful after a while. But twice a year, St. Louis' audiophiles, videographers and recordists take a break from their grail quests to converge at the GEARage Sale
, where they can sell and swap their audio, video and musical tools. Some of the city's professional recording studios, like SmithLee Productions and Firebrand Recording, will be unloading top-shelf swag. This year the GEARage Sale takes place, appropriately enough, at the Firebird (2706 Olive Street; 314-535-0353) and runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free to attend, and there is likewise no fee to hawk your old gear.
