Harry in A Hurry

Magic Smoking Monkey Theatre confounded with its send-up of Plan 9 from Outer Space, it dazzled with its take on the holy trilogies (The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars), and it phased audiences with its version of Star Trek. Now, Magic Smoking Monkey Theatre dares to conquer the detail-heavy Harry Potter series -- all eight books -- in just an hour-and-a-half. STUPEFY! The 90 Minute Harry Potter Parody features the usual subjects -- Harry and his magickal unicorn hair wand, Hermione and her Muggle-born ways, Ron and his gingerness, Snape, Dumbledore, Hagrid and on and on -- casting their spells and working their way through puberty at an accelerated rate. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their Hogwarts best, so get them robes out and don that pointy hat! The deed is done at 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday (December 7 through 15) at the Emerson Black Box Theatre in Lindenwood University's Scheidegger Center for the Arts (2300 West Clay Street; www.stlshakespeare.org). The early show is family friendly, while the late show is more adult. Tickets are $10 to $15.
Fridays, Saturdays. Starts: Dec. 7. Continues through Dec. 15, 2012
