Hello, Sun!

Maybe those yogis behind the international Yoga for Peace effort (www.yoga-for-peace.org) are onto something. Exercising and stretching get the blood flowing and make people feel happier. And when people are in a more pleasant state of mind, they treat their fellow humans better and have an increasingly peaceful outlook. Now, if we could just get everyone in the city and the state and the country and the world to take a load off and breathe deeply, surely our planet would be a better place. Wishful thinking, but still, it’s a nice idea, yes? To at least make your own existence a little more peaceful and to honor the September 11 victims, arrive at the Tower Grove Farmers’ Market & Bazaar (Tower Grove Park, 4256 Magnolia Avenue) at 8 a.m. to sign up for our local Yoga for Peace event. The 108 sun salutations (a series of postures) commence at 9 a.m., and several local yoga studios and musicians are taking part. Participation costs $10 to $25 (a suggested donation), and all contributions go to peace organizations. For more information call 314-421-9642 or visit www.urbanbreath.com.
