It's gonna be a good year

The Chinese ushered in the year of the ox on January 26 — and not a moment too soon. This animal is supposed to bring with it prosperity, which is something that seems to be lacking from many lives right now. To celebrate and welcome the spirit of this four-legged fortune machine, head over to the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road). That's where Divine Performing Arts puts on the Chinese New Year Spectacular at 7:30 p.m. Friday and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday (February 6 and 7). The show features traditional dances and music as well as gorgeous costumes. Expect lots of drumming, amazing balancing acts, a live orchestra and more, all in the classical Chinese style.
