In the Lane Lights Are Glistenin'

Drive-through light displays are one of the best parts of the holiday season. Spending non-TV-watching time with family snuggled in the warm car is always entertaining, especially since caroling while you inch through the nighttime glitterati is practically mandatory. Seriously, what's more fun than a car full of people doing their best "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)"? To check out some after-dark holiday sparkle with yours, head to Christmas Wonderland in Rock Spring Park (College Avenue and Rock Springs Drive, Alton, Illinois). Some 2.5 million bulbs light the way each evening from 6 to 9 p.m. during the week and from 5 to 9 p.m. on weekends (through Thursday, December 27). And to further enhance your wonder, there's a petting zoo and the option to take a carriage ride through the holiday display (call 618-458-6986 for rates and to make a reservation). For more information about Christmas Wonderland, call 866-465-7890 or visit www.christmaswonderlandofaltonil.net; admission costs $7 per car.
