Just Sipping Away

Time for wine!

If you go to the St. Louis Wine Festival in search of the perfect varietal to pair with funnel cakes or to find out what cabernet looks like after it's been vomited all over a Tilt-A-Whirl, be advised that this is not that kind of fest. In fact, the St. Louis Wine Festival is an elegant outdoor sip-off in Forest Park that is catered by restaurants like LoRusso's Cucina and Lucas Park Grille. And as far as getting dizzy goes, you'll have to rely on tastes of wines from Illinois to Australia for that. The festival is open Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. (September 27 and 28). Tickets for each day are $23 in advance (at 888-210-0074 or www.stlouiswinefestival.com) or $25 at the gate, and admission includes ten tastings, a souvenir wine glass, seminars, cooking demonstrations and more; designated-driver tickets are $10.
