Let's Do Lunch

Lunch, ah lunch! It was Frank O'Hara's favorite meal, and it may now be leading breakfast as the most important repast of the day. Since spring has arrived and the weather is fair, what better way to have lunch than out-of-doors, on the historic cobblestone streets of Laclede's Landing (North First Street and Lucas Avenue; 314-241-5875 or www.lacledeslanding.com)? Fortunately for everyone, this spring and summer (Monday, May 1, through Saturday, September 30) the Landing's Second Street is closed to cars and trucks in favor of open-air dining for Lunch on the Landing (lunch hour is defined as 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends). Participating venues include Café Mattino, Hannegan's Restaurant, Jake's Steaks, Joey B's on the Landing and Morgan Street Brewery, so there's certain to be something for every culinary persuasion. You just have to get down there and grab a seat.
