Queens in Space, a LGBT Center of St. Louis fundraiser presented by the Moonrise Hotel and the Vital Voice, was held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 and featured performances from Zander Mander, Trixie LaRue, Kenadie St. James and Adria Andrews. Photos by Jon Gitchoff for the Riverfront Times.
The Moonrise Hotel was a "Frozen" wonderland on January 16, 2015, and nobody wanted to "Let It Go." The Delmar Loop hotel hosted the fifth-annual Snow Ball as a kick-off party to the weekend's traditional Ice Carnival. Master of Ceremonies Joe Edwards welcomed the guests, many of whom wore white or silver to keep with the snowy theme. Miss Jubilee brought the tunes, Stella Artois brought the booze, and Linda Corley and Doug Cockrell brought the wow factor when they were crowned Ice Queen and Ice King.
If there's one thing Joe Edwards is king of -- you know, apart from the entire Loop -- it's opening damn fine establishments like Moonrise that sling booze into the small hours. At Moonrise, you'll be drinking next to high rollers, pro-sports dudes and those stunning females who don't seem to exist in the world the rest of us inhabit. The bartenders may look like irredeemable hipsters, but they know cocktails and really aren't any more pretentious than the next guy. Add a stunning view of the city and the occasional run-in with Pageant headliners, and you've got one of our favorite places for an al fresco sip.
