You have to to hand it to Napalm Death. Few bands in the realm of metal have had such an original vision and stuck to it for so long without selling out, getting stale or throwing in the towel. For more than twenty years, the Birmingham, England, band has delivered some of the most authentic, punishing material in death-metal history, nearly singlehandedly founding the sub-genre of grindcore along the way. And while the members of Napalm Death may not have the million-dollar bank accounts of their wayward colleagues in Metallica, they never starred in a crappy movie with their therapist, either. Now touring America as part of a package tour with a group of younger bands (many of whose members were born after ND formed in 1981), the band proves that sometimes credibility does pay off. Go watch them show these kids who's boss.
7 p.m. Friday, April 11. Pop's, 1403 Mississippi Avenue, Sauget, Illinois. $17 advance, $19 day of show. 618-274-6720.
