The New Line Theatre company is committed to the belief that the musical is not a quaint relic of a simpler time, but is rather a strong and viable method of artistic communication. The group has nothing against the older, classic musicals, but artistic director Scott Miller firmly believes that there are new classics being composed right now and that more will be made in the coming years. To prove it, Miller and the New Line All-Stars periodically stage cabaret-style revues featuring songs from musicals you know and love (The Rocky Horror Show's "I'm Going Home," for instance) as well as shows you may not have had the pleasure of seeing yet, such as High Fidelity (although you should have seen New Line's production of this one last summer). More than 25 songs are ready to surprise and delight you in two productions of A New Line Cabaret, Episode IV: Night of the Living Show Tunes. Showtime is 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday (January 5 and 6) at the Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Boulevard; 314-534-1111 or www.thesheldon.org), and tickets are $10.
