Out of Place

In addition to being one of the most peaceful libraries around, the University City Public Library (6701 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-727-3150) also presents more than its fair share of tasteful art shows. Not that anyone's complaining — an art show in a library means there's no one trying to impress the other art lovers with a learned discourse on the exhibition for fear of a knee-buckling "shush!" from the librarian. University City resident Anukriti Sud Hittle maintains the gallery's excellent reputation with her current show, Terra Nostra: Landscapes Real & Imagined. Her digital collages combine a place (French resort town La Baule, for example) with layers of flora and light to create an evocative depiction of the emotional connotations of a location. Terra Nostra remains on display daily through Wednesday, January 30.
