Patently Important

Invention convention

A few Mondays back, we were supposed to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; next Monday we should pay tribute to our dead presidents (today's Lincoln's b-day, by the way). And while these people all definitely deserve our recognition, many other great minds have bettered our lives in significant ways — and these individuals don't even get special days. So in honor of Black History Month, the St. Louis County Libraries are helping us learn about and show our appreciation for some of these influential people by hosting a variety of educational activities for all ages. African-American Inventors You Should Know is one of these programs, and it happens tonight at 7 p.m. at the Indian Trails branch (8400 Delport Drive, Vinita Park). Now, this isn't some boring lecture/slideshow presentation — you'll learn about some inventions you use all the time through songs and play! Call the library at 314-428-5424 to register for this free fun, and visit www.slcl.org for more information.
