What the hell is going on in baseball this year? Massive PED suspensions being handed out, the continued flame out of big hitters when they join Anaheim and the perpetually rebuilding Pittsburgh Pirates are flirting with winning the NL's Central Division? Baseball, she is a crazy game. Those pesky Pirates even beat the St. Louis Cardinals four games out of five to end July. Of course, that was in Pittsburgh. This week, the Buccos are in St. Louis for a three-game series that opens at 7:15 p.m. Monday, August 13, at Busch Stadium (Broadway and Poplar Street; 314-345-9000 or www.stlcardinals.com). A mid-August game against the Pirates that means something to both teams -- when was the last time that happened? Tickets for tonight's opener are $5 to $310.80, and they may not be as easy to come by as they have been for the past, oh, twenty years.
