Reeling in the Years

Although the Big Green One (a.k.a. St. Patrick's Day) is still a week away, it's never too early to start celebrating. The basic elements of a traditional Irish celebration are music and dance; company follows close behind. You can enjoy all three this weekend at the Center of Creative Arts (524 Trinity Avenue, University City; 314-725-1834, extension 124, or www.cocastl.org), when the Trinity Irish Dance Academy blows you away with its renowned style of modern Irish dance. Honoring the traditional forms of the Emerald Isle while incorporating elements of other dance disciplines, the Trinity dancers have a singular style — and the 22 world championships they've claimed prove it's a style that's technically sound and overwhelmingly beautiful. Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (March 9 through 11). Tickets are $17 to $20.
