However, the metal-leaning bands on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival — and the tour's titular metal-canned energy drink — have a logical bond. One serving of Rockstar contains 60 milligrams of sugar, almost enough to conjure the sweet, sweet riffs of Mastodon. The drink delivers short, quick bursts of hyperkinetic energy, much like experimental grindcore side-stagers the Red Chord (and just imagine the amount of caffeine necessary to execute Dragonforce's mile-a-minute guitar heroics). And finally, if too much Rockstar-chugging early in the day causes a sugar crash, you may have a good excuse to bail out early on nü-metal headliners Slipknot and Disturbed.
