Season's Greenings

Though we're landlocked and routinely overlooked or outright ignored or misunderstood (or all of the above) by the bi-coastal cultural powers that be, St. Louis is plugged straight into the world, and the world's wealth of cultures and heritages. Take our sizeable and very active Irish-American community as an example -- it's large and mobilized enough to boast its own arts organization, St. Louis Irish Arts. This nifty group of folks likes to celebrate the season as much as anyone; the proof of the Christmas pudding is in the St. Louis Irish Arts Winter Concert at the Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Boulevard; 314-533-9900 or www.thesheldon.org). The event features the singers, dancers and musicians of SLIA in a performance of all things Irish-centric and festive. Tickets for the 4 p.m. concert are $15. Children 12 and younger get in free, but must have a ticket if they take up a seat.
