Chicago rapper Serengeti
wears his influences on his sleeve: Sniper
's Frank Dux and Chong Li, Mike Ditka, Critters
, Ferris Bueller, Sniper 2
, Klonopin, Brian Dennehy, Prince, Jays chips, O'Doul's non-alcoholic beer, Sniper 3
, Malibu, Jägermeister, tennis, Bennigan's, Squirt, Juicy Fruit gum, curly fries, iPods, frisbees, cucumbers, Barry Bonds and, of course, Arid Extra Dry deodorant. The point is that you never know what you're going to get at a Serengeti show. Though the F5 Records and Frozen Food Section recording artist is barely older than Katie Holmes, he has more than a dozen albums under his belt and draws from all of them live -- and his songs mix aspects of hip-hop and rock, as well as incorporate indie and mainstream sensibilities.
