Catherine inherited quite a bit from her recently deceased father, Robert. She has a house full of his research notebooks, the memories of Robert's slow slide into madness and a touch of her father's gift for mathematics — and maybe his madness, as well. Catherine's older sister, Claire, returns home to help her clean out the house at about the same time as Hal, a persistent grad student of Robert's, arrives on the doorstep wanting to comb those notebooks for anything useful, mathematically speaking. David Auburn's Proof
examines the peculiar ways love and mathematics intersect and how some things can exist even if you can't distill their essence into a handy formula. Insight Theatre Company presents Proof
