Scott Warren no longer lives in St. Louis, but the Signal Hill Transmission
co-founder hasn't forgotten his Midwest roots. The LA-based band recorded its first release, 2001's Home
, at the Upper Room, and Warren tends to bring his quartet this way whenever he can. Which is lucky for us, judging from the heavenly pop hooks on SHT's full-length debut, Tomorrow, the Stars
. Soaring and dipping with the grace of a looping kite, Stars
resembles a less-synthesized Psychedelic Furs -- Warren's vocals compare to Richard Butler's, albeit without the gargling-with-gravel timbre -- and conjures the hook-laden swells of indie-popsters Kent and pre-stadium-tours Radiohead.
Show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10; call 314-862-0009 for more information.
