Something Rotten!

If you're looking for something good, you should see Something Rotten! John O'Farrell and Karey & Wayne Kirkpatrick's multiple Tony-nominated musical features brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom working to become the playwrights of the century, but they're constantly overshadowed by another playwright, William Shakespeare. You may have heard of him. Then a soothsayer makes a prediction: The future of the stage involves acting, singing and dancing simultaneously. This new art form will be called "a musical." The brothers then try to create and mount the first musical, which happens to feature numerous references to contemporary musicals (and some of Shakespeare's best-known works as well). Something Rotten! is performed Tuesday through Sunday (February 7 to 19) at the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; www.fabulousfox.com). Tickets are $25 to $88.
