St. Louis has no shortage of quality tribute acts that perform this time of year. But the annual Stevie Ray Vaughan night at the Pageant was one of the first to showcase local axe-slingers paying homage to their heroes. This year's SRV Tribute features a formidable lineup of some of the city's finest purveyors of riff-heavy blues-rock: Steve Pecaro, Tony Campanella and Jimmie Lee Kennett. Each of these fine players channels a certain part of what made Vaughan great: Pecaro specializes in deliberate, tasteful licks and syrupy-warm guitar tone; Campanella has a penchant for flashy but always steady, soulful shredding; and Kennett possesses a timeless, bluesy style, which is steeped in the tradition of old-time greats Albert King and Buddy Guy.
