The Foodporn of the 2014 Iron Fork at Union Station
Iron Fork, the Riverfront Times' annual battle royale and feast, was held March 20 at Union Station in downtown St. Louis. Guests sampled dishes, desserts and drinks from nearly 40 area restaurants while watching cutthroat culinary competition. John Perkins of Juniper beat out Brian Coltrain of Element, Colleen Clawson of Standard Fare and last year's winner Ed Heath of Cleveland-Heath for the chef title. In the cocktail competition, Brittany Van Hook of Table Three triumphed over Chris Wheeler of Prasino, Keyan Still of Sanctuaria, Dustin Parres of Gamlin Whiskey House, and Keeley McGrew and Miles Ray of HandleBar.
Fashionistas were out in full force for the spring St. Louis Fashion Week finale at Union Station on April 25, 2014. Attendees checked out the latest looks from Novis, Harbison, Skif International, Viktor Luna and Devil City during the designers showcase before partying until the wee hours to music by local band Née and local DJs TrashTalk and BillyBrown during the after-party.
Beer and barbecue were the treats of the day at the Riverfront Times' first-ever Q & Brew in the Lou event. The sold-out tasting bonanza, held August 23 at Union Station, featured more than twenty breweries, plus barbecue from Sugarfire Smokehouse, the Precinct and Rib Shack. Local bands Dance Floor Riot and Old Capital Square Dance Club performed.
