Star-Crossed High Schoolers

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, as you will recall, concerns the forbidden love between two individuals who belong to rival families in fair Verona. So when the powers that be at the Clayton Community Theatre decided to stage a production of the play, they used the St. Louis equivalent to warring families: the tempestuous world of St. Louis high schools. Jacob Blumenfeld of Clayton High School plays Romeo, Hannah Kiem of Crossroads College Preparatory School plays Juliet, and students from three other area high schools (as well as some adult actors) fill out the rest of the cast. The tragic play is performed at the Concordia Seminary Theater (6501 Clayton Road, Richmond Heights) at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Sunday matinees take place at 2 p.m. (February 23 through March 4); there's one Thursday show at 8 p.m. on March 1. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. Call 314-721-9228 or visit www.placeseveryone.org for more information.
Fridays-Sundays; Thu., March 1. Starts: Feb. 23. Continues through March 4
