Stomp and Circumstance

This time of year, we all get a bit desperate to cool things off a bit; the average temperatures and humidity don’t exactly make for a refreshing atmosphere. And while it’s not a pretty picture, you can hardly blame your Aunt Louise for submersing herself in an ice-cube-filled backyard baby pool wearing a swimsuit that might have fit fifteen years ago. However, we’ve got a better suggestion for staying cool this weekend: Stone Hill Winery (1110 Stone Hill Highway, Hermann) is sponsoring the annual Grape Stomp beginning at 1 p.m. If you want to cool off your tootsies in a barrel full of grapes, bring $5 and get there early -- the line forms around 8 a.m., and only 90 participants are accepted. Or bring $3, and cheer on your favorite stomper. Proceeds from the stomp benefit the River Bluff Industries, Inc. charity. For more information visit www.stonehillwinery.com or call 800-909-9463.
