There's just something about the art of puppetry that allows for greater creative expression; we can say through puppets what we'd dare not say on our own. But while it's inappropriate to reveal a crush on your physics teacher via sock puppets — and ill-advised to tell off the IRS using marionettes — there's one troupe of puppets that can get away with absolutely anything. That's right: the adorable, musical, foul-mouthed cast of Avenue Q. The beloved Broadway hit returns to the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard), bringing along such NSFW classics as "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" and "The Internet Is for Porn." In case those last two song titles didn't tip you off, Avenue Q is not for the kiddos — but everyone who grew up watching Sesame Street will love the sly nods to Bert, Ernie and the rest of the PBS gang. Avenue Q is performed at 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (April 30 through May 2), and tickets range from $25 to $62. For more information and to purchase tickets, call 314-534-1111. You can also buy tickets at www.metrotix.com, thereby proving that the Internet is not just for porn.
