Today is the winter solstice, which means it's the shortest day of the year. That also means tonight will be the longest night of the year, so find something productive to do with your extra evening hours — say, the SATE Solstice fundraiser
? Slightly Askew Theatre Ensemble invites everybody to the Chapel (6238 Alexander Drive, Clayton; 314-835-7415 or www.slightlyoff.org
) at 7 p.m. for an evening of theater and treats. The SATEists will reprise their "Year of Roaring Women" by performing excerpts from all four of their shows (Primal
, 4:48 Psychosis
and Top Girls
). They'll also recite holiday stories SATE-style, and sweeten the pot further with hot beverages and homemade cookies (à la carte). Admission to the fundraiser (which benefits the company) is $20, but if you opt for the $50 VIP donation, you'll receive a poinsettia from Walter Knoll Florists.
