There's no denying it: Cancer is the worst. (Of course, it's far more dreadful than just that one word, but you don't need us to tell you so.) Fortunately, fighting cancer does not have to be terrible, especially when you can do so with friends and family while filling the Scottrade Center (1401 Clark Avenue; 314-622-2551 or www.scottradecenter.com) with cheers and whistles. At the American Cancer Society Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout, you'll have the opportunity to shout and root for your favorite highschool basketball teams as they go head to head to raise money for the American Cancer Society's research, education and other services. Games begin every hour and a half, starting at 10 a.m., with the last matchup happening at 8 p.m. Both boys' and girls' teams are represented, as are both states in the metro area, along with Kentucky! Tickets to the fun cost $7 to $12, and seating is open; check out www.coachesvscancerstlouis.org for a full schedule.
