Khaela Maricich has been through enough divergent musical phases to confound a chameleon. Originally a singer/songwriter in the untrained, spirit-over-virtuosity K Records vein, she quickly embraced high technology and concept. As the Blow, she has released a series of recordings marrying robotic electronic production to her one-of-a-kind vocals, at once cooing and confrontational. Even at her most confusing — her suite of songs supposedly written for Lindsay Lohan, for example — her ideas and presentation are always worthy of serious attention. For her latest tour, Maricich has partnered with visual artist Melissa Dyne who will function as an unseen band member, adding prerecorded and live sounds to react and respond to Maricich's onstage presentation. Expect nothing but the unexpected.
