The Chariot may sound like late-'90s metalcore pioneers such as Converge and Coalesce, but the band is anything but a throwback. Founded by former Norma Jean vocalist Josh Scogin in 2003, the band's unique combination of chaos and melody has it them carve out its own unique niche among today's metalcore masses. (Touring alongside As I Lay Dying and Trivium on the Sounds of the Underground Tour all summer certainly didn't hurt either.) The band recently posted a demo of "Elvish Presley" on MySpace (myspace.com/thechariot), and if the song is any indication, the best — and most brutal — is yet to come from these Atlanta, Georgia, natives. Fans should look forward to Chariot's full-length, Porcelain, scheduled for release in 2007.
