The High Cost of Living

Jonathan Larson's Rent is a cultural powerhouse. It won boatloads of awards during its original run, and more importantly, it brought a new, younger generation to Broadway audiences. But it was also a harbinger, making way for a new generation of rock musicals. Rent is about a group of twenty-somethings living and dying in the East Village and trying to make something new out of their lives and their selves. Director Scott Miller and New Line Theatre take this modern classic out for a spin, presenting a new staging for this next generation of theater-goers. The show is performed at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (March 6 through 29) at the Washington University South Campus Theatre (6501 Clayton Road, Richmond Heights; 314-534-1111 or www.newlinetheatre.com). Tickets are $7.50 to $20.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: March 6. Continues through March 29, 2014
