During the course of one starry night, every person in the rustic hamlet of Almost, Maine, has a close encounter with love. In a string of loosely linked vignettes, people with broken hearts kept in paper bags, who can't feel pain and who are trapped in loveless marriages meet the perfect stranger who helps ease their pain and loneliness. John Cariani's Almost, Maine mixes eccentric characters with magical realism (and a generous dose of meeting cute) to whisk you away to a town where love is always waiting to happen. Saint Louis University Theatre presents Almost, Maine at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday (October 1 through 10) at Saint Louis University's Xavier Hall (3733 West Pine Mall; 314-977-3327). Tickets are $7 to $10.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 1. Continues through Oct. 10, 2010
