The Wisdom of the People

Newcomers to St. Louis seem baffled by us. Who are the scrubby Dutch? Why do we insist on calling fried ravioli toasted? What's the deal with our high school obsession? Your best bet to solving the mystery of St. Louis is Dr. John Oldani, the leading collector of St. Louis folklore. Dr. Oldani opens his storehouse of knowledge in the program The Folklore of St. Louis: Passing on the Oral Traditions, a three-part lecture series that takes place from 10:30 a.m to noon Tuesday (April 2 through 16) at the Missouri History Museum (Lindell Boulevard and DaBaliviere Avenue; 314-746-4599 or www.mohistory.org). Admission is free.
Tuesdays. Starts: April 2. Continues through April 16, 2013
