As the end of summer approaches, all your fantastic plans for road trips and weekend getaways have fizzled out in the face of high gas prices and unpredictable weather patterns. In short, you're stuck in St. Louis and feeling a bit unworldly. Since you aren't going anywhere, the International Institute of St. Louis' Festival of Nations is bringing the rest of the world to you for one weekend only. The fest takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (August 23 and 24) in Tower Grove Park (4256 Magnolia Avenue). Spend the days sampling ethnic foods, shopping for hand-made and traditional items, enjoying music and dancing on three stages, and participating in children's crafts, dance lessons and sports. Admission and entertainment are free. For a complete schedule of events and details about the free parking shuttle, call 314-773-9090 or visit www.iistl.org.
