This Show Slays 'Em

Deathtrap returns to the stage

If you love suspenseful, labyrinthine plots and have an appreciation for dark comedy, then you're going to love Ira Levin's Deathtrap. Levin is best known for penning such works as the satirical novel The Stepford Wives, as well as the horror classic Rosemary's Baby (the book, not the movie). Deathtrap is the story of Sidney Bruhl, a once-successful Broadway playwright who has just endured a series of four failed plays. Now dealing with writer's block, he will stop at nothing to put out an acclaimed show and regain his reputation, even if it means murdering an up-and-coming playwright in order to steal his work. The Kirkwood Theatre Guild presents Deathtrap at 2 p.m. today and 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday (January 20 through 28) at the Kirkwood Community Center's Robert G. Reim Theatre (111 South Geyer Road, Kirkwood). Tickets are $15 and are available at 314-821-9956. For more information visit
