This Thing of Theirs

Often when people think about the mafia, they conjure up images of untouchable men in flashy suits exuding a sense of power and, above all else, loyalty to their famiglia. And although the St. Louis Craft Mafia (an indie craft collaborative) isn’t quite La Cosa Nostra, its style is just as unique and the group members would do anything to support indie craft in St. Louis. That “anything” includes sponsoring a nighttime indie-craft trunk show, CraftaNostra, at CooperElla (2743 Sutton Boulevard, Maplewood; www.craftanostra.com). Admission is free, so don’t wait for those crafty capos to send their soldiers out looking for you: Just show up at CraftaNostra any time from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. and enjoy drinks, a DJ and several local craft artisans strutting their edgy stuff (i.e., jewelry, clothes, plush toys and more). And if you’re lucky, you may get to meet those notoriously fierce girls of skate, the Arch Rival Roller Girls.
