T.I.

Wednesday, May 3, at 8 p.m. The Pageant (6161 Delmar Boulevard)

Although he crowned himself "king of the South" a few years back, T.I. has actually taken the throne only with his new album, King. Driven by the downright regal lead single, "What You Know," King is a near-perfect slice of trap-hop, chock full of gigantic synths, cocaine deals and liberal use of the word "shawty." Expect T.I.'s live show to feel like a victory lap — or better yet, a bounce-heavy coronation — even though Blink-182's Travis Barker won't be on the drums (as he was on T.I.'s recent Jimmy Kimmel Show appearance).
