Turn it Loose

Jul 28, 2010 at 4:00 am
Long ago in a place far, far away — the tiny rural enclave of Bomont — angst-ridden teenagers with a zest for dancing were denied their rights. It was then that the brave and handsome Ren McCormack came from the big city of Chicago to turn the villagers' world upside down; you might say he helped them cut loose: Footloose. With the help of his friends, Ren revolutionizes the town and brings dancing back to the people despite the wishes of parents, the principal, and the evil Reverend Moore. Eventually, everyone agrees that dancing isn't so bad, and they settle their differences with a big bowl of strawberry ice cream. Footloose is staged at 8:15 p.m. Monday through Sunday (August 2 to 8) at the Muny in Forest Park (314-361-1900 or www.muny.org). Tickets are $9 to $66.
