Use Your Illusion

Think back: When was the last time you were wowed? Really, really wowed? Sure, you might have been amused recently, and maybe even mildly entertained, but you probably haven't been super-wowed in a very long time. Fortunately, 1,500 magicians, give or take, are in town this week for the International Brotherhood of Magicians/Society of American Magicians Convention to end your dry spell, and a handful of them -- including Xavier Mortimer and Sylvester the Jester -- perform tonight at the Peabody Opera House (1400 Market Street). Show Me the Magic begins at 8 p.m., and this family-friendly show brings illusions, comedy magic and more, including the wow factor, to the stage. Tickets to the magic awesomeness cost $35, and they are available by phone at 314-732-0301 and at the registration booth at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel (800 Washington Avenue); visit www.ibmsam.com for more details.
