Water Baby and the Fly Boy

How long has this been going on?

Captain Billy Buck Chandler, noted aviator, has his sights set on being the first man to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Edith Herbert is the young star of Prince Nicolai Tchatchavadze's International Aquacade. The two meet and are instantly smitten with each other, but their careers — such as they are — stand in the way of true love. Oh, and the prince is blackmailing Edith with some racy photos, so she's a veritable prisoner of the Aquacade, and Billy's jealous female mechanic, Nikki, attempts to sabotage their budding romance for her own selfish ends. The course of true love may not always be smooth, but it is always aided by the music of George and Ira Gershwin, as My One and Only proves. A loving tribute to the madcap comedies of the '20s and crammed to the gills — to the gills, I say! — with great Gershwin tunes, My One and Only plays at 8:15 p.m. Monday through Sunday (July 28 through August 3) at the Muny in Forest Park (314-361-1900 or www.muny.org). Tickets are $9 to $64.
