Weigh Your Options

Two juicy classes

That's it! Ms. Day's diet officially starts today! (So what if she's a little late?) On this new year's plan, she will feast upon tomato bisque, chicken burritos, chocolate angel food cake and other delicious treats! And she will be healthier! How's that, you ask? Those foods sound too tasty to be healthful, you say? Well, they most certainly are not, and Barbara Nack will show skeptics and believers alike how to make such scrumptious, light dishes from 12:30 to 3 p.m. today at the Kitchen Conservatory (8021 Clayton Road, Richmond Heights; 314-862-2665). Her hands-on class, dubbed Weigh to Go!, costs $50 to enroll, and you can do so by visiting www.kitchenconservatory.com. And for those who don't share Day's resolve and who're looking to eat more items like green-apple risotto, scallops and crab-stuffed peppers (yum!), Kelly Schmickle's Cookin' the Books course, featuring recipes from the cookbook My Last Supper: 50 Great Chefs and Their Final Meals by Melanie Dunea, is all you. This one costs $40 per person to sign up, and the demonstration runs from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
